The Importance of China's Casting Industry
Release time:2026-08-06
China’s foundry industry has always served as an essential, fundamental and irreplaceable pillar of the national‑economy, boasting low production costs and extensive process adaptability. China ranks as the world’s leading foundry powerhouse, topping global rankings in annual casting output, workforce size and the number of manufacturing enterprises. Driven by deepening economic globalization and advancing market‑oriented economy, foundry‑related technologies, production workflows and management practices are growingly reliant on diverse industrial standards.
Numerous obstacles remain before China can achieve mass‑produced aluminum alloy castings that satisfy automobile lightweight requirements. First, automotive‑grade aluminum castings are evolving toward thin‑wall structures, intricate geometries, high mechanical strength and superior quality. Optimized casting procedures and the research‑and‑development of innovative alloy materials are required to keep pace with such demands. Second, production expenses shall be reduced via design and process upgrades. Measures include multi‑cavity mould technology and automated production for higher productivity and extended mould service life, alongside integrated component design to cut down part quantities. Third, computer‑aided simulation technology helps shorten the development cycle of process schemes. Fourth, aluminum recycling shall be scaled‑up. Recycled aluminum constitutes the primary raw material for aluminum casting. While expanding the foundry sector, China needs to prioritize recycled‑aluminum utilization, develop technologies for effective aluminum separation from composite and dissimilar‑material scraps, and build a comprehensive waste‑material recycling network.
Our company possesses extensive experience within the foundry sector, with more than 70‑year‑long casting‑manufacturing heritage. Our aluminum castings feature low casting costs, excellent process performance and resource‑saving, energy‑efficient remelting‑recycling capability. Sand casting is our preferred fabrication method for aluminum castings on account of its lower cost, straightforward procedures and shorter manufacturing cycles compared to alternative casting techniques. Raw materials are heated manually into molten aluminum alloy. The molten metal is poured into mould cavities through specialized moulds and dedicated processes before cooling and demoulding. Our mainstream aluminum casting techniques cover sand casting, die casting, low‑pressure casting, investment casting, permanent‑mould casting and lost‑foam casting.
Thanks to low density, high specific strength, corrosion resistance and other favourable traits, aluminum castings will gain wider adoption across aerospace, automobile, machinery and other industries. Within the automotive industry, replacing steel castings with aluminum‑nickel alloy castings represents a long‑term development trend to cut fuel consumption and boost energy‑use efficiency. Priority research targets include pollution‑free, high‑efficiency and user‑friendly technologies for molten‑metal refining, modification, grain refinement and rapid on‑furnace inspection. To enhance material properties and fully tap material potential, customized aluminum alloys are developed so that aluminum castings can meet property specifications under varied working‑condition scenarios. We also advance research on aluminum‑alloy melting workflows, conduct continuous research into aluminum‑alloy die‑casting and squeeze‑casting technologies, and upgrade melting equipment together with supporting techniques and processes.
